Residential Demolition Professionals

What is Residential Demolition?

Residential Demolition projects vary in size. Some can consist of simply removing a small bathroom, a kitchen, flooring material and maybe a few walls to give you that open concept you’ve always wanted. Others might involve removing the entire home itself from the property to prepare for a new infill. Whatever the project size, Troy Demolition has the knowledge and expertise to get the job done safely and efficient.

Selecting a Residential Demolition Contractor

Troy Demolition is a fully licensed and insured Alberta Contractor and all our workers are covered under our WCB.

Steps for Residential House Demolition

  1. Environmental Inspection- This is the first step in any residential project to ensure there are no hazardous materials present. This is required by the City of Calgary before a demolition permit can be obtained.

  2. Utility Locate and Disconnect - It is a free service to have your utilities located. Disconnects must be done by each provider of utility service to your property.

  3. Permit - A demolition permit is required whenever you are demolishing or moving a building from a site. This can include a partial building demolition as well as reducing a building to its foundation and rebuilding. In most cases, a demolition permit is not required for the removal of a detached residential garage. Interior residential demolitions require a building permit instead of a demolition permit. This is usually done by the demolition contractor selected to perform the work.

  4. Now it’s time for DEMOLITION - Once complete, your property will be free of all trash and debris. Backfilling the footprint of the house is sometimes required when the project is complete. We make sure to include this in our proposal if required.

Recycling and Waste

In the current age of environmental awareness it is important to be knowledgeable of materials with salvage or recycling value. Any material that can be diverted from our overcrowding landfills by salvaging and reselling or recycled for profits not only benefits our environment, it saves you money! A few items with salvage value in residential demolition include windows, doors, trim, and flooring. These items, with the client’s consent will be donated on their behalf to Calgary’s Habitat for Humanity Restore locations.
